Nelson Mandela Bay’s very own community television station, Bay TV will be broadcasting on DSTV channel 260 from 13th of November.
Speaking at the official launch this afternoon, station manager Geoff Hookins, said being added to the successful satellite broadcaster’s bouquet of channels would allow the station to provide local talent with broader exposure in the national arena, while also giving local viewers the benefit of better reception.
Hookins said Bay TV would be available on the DSTV Premium, Compact and Lite bouquets.
“The move to a digital platform means a lot for the station,” said Bay TV’s chairman, Vuyo Mvoko.
“With the country now moving towards digital migration, it begins to introduce us to a much wider audience.”
Mvoko went on to commend the dedicated staff and community members who have worked tirelessly to create the best possible product for the station.
“The station will now be seen by the wider viewing public of SA and by the decision makers who will be able to grow the station and aid in its sustainability.”
Mvuko said the station would continue to provide programming in Xhosa, English and Afrikaans. He said the inclusion on DSTV also meant that local businesses and institutions would benefit from national advertising exposure at reasonable rates.
The station will continue to broadcast free-to-air in the Nelson Mandela Bay region and surrounds.
