Police are still monitoring the situation at Walmer Township following early morning service delivery protests that once again disrupted early morning traffic.
Police spokesman, Warrant Officer Alwin Lebans, said that a number of protesters have since dispersed but a few hundred people are still gathered at the entrance to the township at 9th Avenue, and were waiting for members from the municipality to address them.
Lebans said Buffelsfontein has been closed between 8th and 12th Avenue but that Victoria Drive was still open for traffic.
A strong police contingent is in the area and they are monitoring the situation.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and use Main Road Walmer as an alternative route.
