One person dead in head on collision on the N2 near Cotswold

One person has died and several others have been hospitalised following a head on collision on the N2 near Cotswold in Port Elizabeth during the early hours of this morning.

Police spokesman, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, said a Toyota Corolla had collided with a Nissan Bakkie at about 2.15am this morning.

Labans said the Corolla was travelling down the freeway on the wrong side of the road, and collided head on with the bakkie as it was entering a blind turn before the hill leading up to the Cotswold offramp.

The driver of the Corolla, who was in his 30s, was killed instantly, while the seven people in the bakkie, who were on their way to deliver flyers, sustained various injuries and were taken to different hospitals across Nelson Mandela Bay.
