A 63-year-old man from Seaview found himself in hot water this morning for ignoring clear road signs when he crossed the flooded Seaview Road and ended up with a R500 fine for this trouble.
Municipal spokesman, Kupido Baron said unfortunately for the man, his daring crossing across the flooded section of the road took place while officials of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and engineers representing the Eastern Cape Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport were busy with an inspection at the flooded section of road.
The road was closed in July 2012 after rain of approximately 185mm fell in the area.
“This provincial road will remain closed even though the water level subsided to approximately 400mm. However if the good weather conditions prevail, it is predicted that the road could be opened by next week,” said Baron.
