Two of South Africa’s up and coming authors, James Fouche and Steve Reeder, will be at the Exclusive Books at Walmer Park in Port Elizabeth today as part of their national book tour. The tour is part of the annual Exclusive Books Homebru promotion, which aims to encourage a passion for writing in South Africa.
Both authors will discuss their work and do book signings at Munch Cafe next to Exclusive Books, with the event open to everyone. Come and enjoy a slice of cake and a cup of coffee with the authors.
James is a renowned crime author from the Garden Rout, where he lives with his wife and their two Jack Russell terriers.
On the Port Elizabeth book tour he will be promoting Jack Hanger, a gripping crime novel that takes a look at the gritty drug world of Cape Town.
While researching characters James spends a lot of his time in the fresh produce departments of local supermarkets, or frequenting coffee shops and other retail outlets, where he takes pleasure in examining housewives and businessmen alike to document their behavioural patterns.
Steve is a British born author who lives in the Garden Route and is the author of Adrenalin Rush, a fast-paced adventure thrill ride that takes a look at espionage and terrorism.
Steve spent a large part of his life in sales and marketing.
“I’ve worked for myself mostly and on sometimes have even found myself with enough money to go country-hopping looking for fun and adventure,” he said.
“I’ve never married and suspect it has a lot to do with not staying in one place long enough to be considered husband material.”
“As for the writing, if you come to my book signing you’ll hear me talk about how that came about and why it’s taken me 30 years to write my first novel,” he said.
“I will also be touching on the subject of publishing and what I learned about this cut-throat business.
