Nothing standard about this standard distance triathlon – 5150 Triathlon Bela Bela

The 5150 Triathlon Bela Bela is approaching and after an impressive debut last year the 2012 edition is certainly one race that is not to be missed. 25 August 2012 is the date to diarise.

The race forms part of the world’s biggest and most lucrative standard distance triathlon series and is currently the only 5150 race on African soil. A 1.5km swim, 40km non-drafting bike and 10km run are the distances that make up the event. In addition, the 5150 Triathlon Bela Bela is the first qualifier for the 2013 Hy-Vee 5150 US Champs in Des Moines, Iowa where the prize purse is a whopping $1.5 million for professional athletes.

5150 Bela Bela is brought to you by the same organisers who brought you the Spec-Savers IRONMAN South Africa and Spec-Savers IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa so you can be sure that you’re in for a top quality event, the likes of no other standard distance triathlon in South Africa. Every entrant receives a 5150 t-shirt and every finisher will receive a unique 5150 finisher medal and certificate.

The action takes place from the picturesque Forever Resorts Warmbaths and athletes and one partner will receive a day-pass to the resort where they can enjoy the red hot race action from one of South Africa’s most beautiful bushveld settings.
