The Animal Welfare Society and Nelson Mandela Bay municipality teamed up to assist pet owners in a number of the township communities around Nelson Mandela Bay today.
The team, assisted by local veterinarians, offered dipping, spaying and general veterinary consultation services.
“The whole project was a total eye opener,” said Marizanne Ferreira, who was involved in the project.
“In general the dogs and cats were in a good condition.” she said.
Ferreira said members of the community also chipped in to help with the dipping and that it was clear that the people loved their pets.
“They came from all over; carrying, walking or even pushing their pets in wheelbarrows,” she said.
